Formula & assumptions
Total eBay Fees = category-based Final Value Fee + per-order fee + seller-entered insertion, advertising and other fees.
- Only selected eBay US categories are supported. The shared engine applies each selected category’s high-value tier per item, not to the aggregated order; order-level buyer charges are allocated evenly across quantity for that per-item tier calculation.
- Buyer shipping, user-entered sales tax, handling and other buyer charges affect the Final Value Fee base. Store subscription and listing-upgrade fees are not inferred.
Frequently asked questions
What is an eBay Final Value Fee?
A Final Value Fee is an eBay selling fee based on the total amount of the sale and the product category selected for the listing.
How is the eBay Final Value Fee calculated?
This calculator applies the selected category’s rate to the total amount of sale, using the applicable rate for each portion above the category threshold.
Does eBay charge fees on shipping?
Yes. Shipping charged to the buyer is included in the Final Value Fee base in this estimator.
Does sales tax affect the Final Value Fee?
Sales tax can be included in eBay’s fee base, so this tool includes the sales tax you enter when estimating the Final Value Fee. It is not counted as your seller revenue.
What is the eBay per-order fee?
This V1 estimate uses $0.30 for a total amount of sale of $10 or less and $0.40 above $10, unless a future category rule specifies no per-order fee.
Do eBay Store subscribers pay the same fees?
No. eBay Store subscriptions can have different insertion-fee allowances and final value fee schedules.
Does this calculator include Promoted Listings fees?
Only when you enter an Advertising / Promoted Listings Fee. This V1 does not infer ad attribution or calculate a campaign rate automatically.
What is the difference between eBay fees and profit?
eBay fees are marketplace charges. Profit also requires product, fulfillment, shipping and other seller costs, which this fee estimator does not subtract.
Are these eBay fee estimates exact?
No. Results are planning estimates. Category details, Store subscription, listing upgrades, seller status and other eBay programs can change actual fees.
